Johnston Research was contracted by Grant MacEwan University to conduct qualitative research investigating satisfaction with their website (www.macewan.ca). Ultimately, research results would be used to support the redesign of their website.
Working with first-year MacEwan students, potential MacEwan students and parents of potential MacEwan students, we explored various aspects of the website, including:
Ideally, research should be conducted with respondents currently in the process of selecting a post-secondary institution. Previous research projects had demonstrated, however, that it can be very difficult to find research participants who are currently in the process of selecting a post-secondary institution and who are able to speak with knowledge and experience about that process. Therefore, in addition to speaking with potential MacEwan students, research was conducted with first-year MacEwan students who could speak to their own personal experiences with website usage and could comment (with the benefit of hindsight) on what might have improved their online experience.
